Twitter

From True Capitalist Radio Wiki

Twitter is a social-networking website used to "tweet" short messages. Twitter began in 2006 and has since rapidly expanded to become one of the most wildly used and understood websites on the internet.

Ghost, the host of the True Capitalist Radio, used his Twitter account as a way to inform fans of developments with the show (such as announcing the next broadcast), post videos of interest to fans and communicate with the audience. During the broadcast Ghost used Twitter to give shoutouts to his fans for retweeting the show, effectively giving him publicity. Since at least late spring-early summer of 2011 until Ghost was suspended in mid-2017, Twitter shoutouts were exploited to trick Ghost into saying hilariously disgusting or otherwise offensive things he would normally ignore. Twitter names have become among the most memorable aspects of the True Capitalist Radio Broadcast.

Other then the broadcast, Ghost consistently posted information about news topics relating to the world, and his capitalist perspectives. These tweets began more frequent following the hiatus of the broadcast in May 2012, however slowed down in 2016, before coming to a complete halt following his suspension in mid-2017.

Ghost has expressed his displeasure for Twitter's censorship, especially after popular conservative figure Milo Yiannopolis was banned permanently over false claims of attacking actress Leslie Jones online, saying that the founder, Jack Dorsey, was implementing "Online Sharia Law".

In 2016, Ghost was temporarily locked out of his Twitter account for a few hours for posting the doxes of 50 or so anti-Trump reporters, in collaboration with the Bill Waggoner Crew. Ghost made an account on an alternative social media site in case he got banned off Twitter, which was found at gab.ai/politicsghost until he was eventually banned in November 2018. He also said he would look into starting his own social media site for the Capitalist Army, potentially similar to the old Capitalist Army website, however these plans have amounted to nothing as of 2018.

Ghost got locked out of his account, again, after calling out alt-right reporter Lucian Wintrich, in early 2017. He initially stated on gab.ai that he's done with Twitter for good, and Jack Dorsey can go fuck himself. However, he did end up coming back, stating he's gonna get the most out of Twitter before he's banned. He was locked out one more time on June 7th, 2017 for an unknown reason.

On June 17, 2017, Ghost had his account suspended, claiming it was because he tweeted the term "poz-hole" on his account. This marks the first time Ghost himself has been suspended off Twitter (The December 2012 incident and the 2013-14 activity from gh0stp0litics were found out to not be him). Ghost now exclusively operates from ghost.report, and has no intention of ever returning to Twitter.

After almost 4 years from being suspended on Twitter, Ghost returned to Twitter under the handle @CapitalistGhost. After announcing his March return from his late December hiatus. Besides posting his usual tweets that relate to current events and TGS being live. Ghost started posting excuses or making unreleated tweets instead of announcing the airing of a new episode of TGS. With many of Ghost's audience enraged over Ghost being lazy and choosing to post on Twitter instead of doing any shows.

On May 31, 2022, Ghost's Twitter account was suspended again for violating Twitter's rules, shortly after Ghost announced his return from taking a break on Memorial Day weekend. It is unknown what caused the suspension and if Ghost will make a new account or the future of Twitter Shoutouts for any new episodes of The Ghost Show. This also marks the third time Ghost's Twitter account was banned. On June 1, 2022, Ghost made an account on Instagram as a substitute for Twitter. However it was met with the same reception that his third Twitter account recieved.

After over a year since his third Twitter account was banned. Ghost made a fourth Twitter account, @TheGhostReport on October 23, 2023. Ghost announced his new Twitter account after posting on Ghost.report. With the reason for wanting to "connect to the normies" and also because of not getting any of his past accounts back after Elon Musk bought Twitter. Ghost later would bring back Twitter Shoutouts on The Ghost Show Episode 346.
